Helen Harpin, a yoga teacher in Harrogate had seen our work and approached us with the idea of having an Om sign in her kitchen.

She new the exact style of Om she wanted but was un sure of the colours available or style we could offer.  We quickly came up with a few different ways of using the tiles to enhance the image.

She really liked the crazy paving background, which looked so flat compared to the shiny glaze of the glass tiles proposed for the Om its self.

We set to work enlarging her image onto a suitable MDF sheet, which would take the weight of the completed work.  Then carefully arranging the small square tiles we drew out the outline for the Om. The curves of the Om sign really began to emerge as we followed and filled the symbol with the bronze glass.

After completing the crazy pave background we chose a gray grout to bring the work together then took the finished piece round the Helens house and hung it on the wall in her kitchen. The final image was 130cm in diameter and was a real feature for her kitchen.

She said “When I Look at my mosaic I feel peace and harmony, obviously this is what the Om sign represents but I know it was made with love. It is so beautiful to look at with shapes colours and precision.  It is my most prized possession
